About the card:

With our giant step towards adulthood, we thought we’d dedicate our 2011 holiday card to our new home. Left: Us on our stoop Right: The view from our roof deck after the first snow fall… in October! We *heart* Boston.
Dear Friends and Family,

Happy Holidays! For the first time in our six years together, Christopher and Carolyn lived together on the same continent for an entire year.

2011 was a big year. Our Spring Break trip to Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan was either incredibly unwise or perfectly timed depending on your tolerance for risk. Carolyn broke both hands (serially), had two surgeries, lost a foot of intestine, and gained the ability to eat grapes – all in one summer. We bought our first home - a penthouse-duplex in the South End of Boston. (Bah Humbug to Bank of America for missing our closing by 14 days!) In January, Chris will start a new job at Liberty Mutual. With Chris between jobs for two months, Carolyn became the primary breadwinner - a fact of which she will cheerfully remind Chris for the next 40 years.

What does 2012 have in store for us? After our 2011, it’s anyone’s guess. Wishing you a happy holiday season and a joyous new year!

Love,
The Lowells

PS: We also had sadness in 2011. Chris’s father, Ogden, still wielding a chainsaw in June, was diagnosed with cancer the first week of August and passed away 3 weeks later at the age of 72. He was a wonderful, charming man. We will always miss him.
